Iowa's Democratic Caucuses
January 3, 2008
Registration Begins at 6:00 PM • You MUST sign in or be in line by 7 PM.
NO Absentee ballots • If you arrive after 7 you are welcome to watch, but not participate.

If you need to change party affiliation to Democratic,
or to register to vote, PLEASE come early!

Democrats in Iowa use the "neighborhood caucus" system to select delegates for presidential candidates, and to choose our local Democratic Party leaders. International media and the presidential candidates focus on Iowa because we give the world the first real evidence of which candidates can or cannot gain the Democratic nomination for president. We Iowans take this very seriously.

Caucus Night Information:

On Caucus Night, you can view the statewide caucus results in near real-time at www.iowacaucusresults.com

Who can participate in Iowa's Democratic caucus?

Here are the qualifications to participate:

  1. Must be a citizen of the United States, and a resident in the precinct.
  2. Must be 18 by election day, November 4, 2008.
  3. Must be a registered voter, registered as a Democrat.
  4. Must be in the registration line or signed in by 7:00 PM

You must be a registered Iowa voter AND be a Democrat to participate. You can register and/or change your party to Democratic at the caucus. If you are not already registered to vote, or if you have moved since you last voted, you will need to register at your caucus on January 3.
